| Well he truly is a legend and was the first major ''black'' artist to break out as big as he did. | |

| ... actually him and the jackson 5 weren't the most famous motown group of thier time. smokey robinson was probably the most famous artist from motown. he wrote over 5000 songs and close to 3000 of those went to the #1 spot.
not that im saying anything bad about micheal because he did shape an entire decade not just with his music, but with his clothing style.
btw, if you guys haven't, then i suggest that you look up some of the artist that motown produced. i suggest The Four Tops or The Temptations.

| Ugh, there were many more big black artist by that time...
Chuck Berry Otis Redding Ray Charles
Those are a few who already were big when The Jackson 5 started. And then you have Leadbelly, born 1888.
EDIT: Other big Motown artists are Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

| Back then there was deffinitly a color barrier and black artists were enjoyed by black artists and not given air time except for the occasional few. MTV as we know it was no exception however according to The Austin Chronicle, Jackson's video for the song "Billie Jean" was the video that broke the color barrier, even though the channel itself was responsible for erecting that barrier in the first place. After airing Jackson's music videos, MTV, then a struggling cable channel, became very popular. Jackson's videos were credited for this success and MTV's focus switched from rock to pop and R&B. This move helped other black artists such as Prince and Whitney Houston break into heavy rotation on the channel. | |

| glad micheal jackson what?
if you mean is dead then you are a complete idiot if you actually believe he molested those boys. he was aquitted of all charges every time. and the plain and simple truth is these people probably told thier children they did not love thier parents if they did not say that micheal jackson molested them. this was just so thier parents could "try" to make millions of dollars easily.
for those idiots on here that do believe micheal jackson was guilty of child molestation, take this into fact:
1.from the age of SIX YEARS old micheal jackson was no longer a child and he was not allowed to live a normal childhood. 2.the man was still a child at heart even at 51 years of age. 3.he didnt have any friends. the so called children(i say that because if you look at his children, they do not have any black features such as:large nose, lips, hands, or feet.) in my opinion where just his attempts at making some friends.
but if that isnt what you ment then im just talking to all the other idiots on the forum.
but yeah, what did you mean by "glad micheal jackson..."

| Sorta both, Because of what he did and Micheal Jackson was black but he wanted to have his face re-done and his skin colour changed. | |

| he didnt really have a choice.
he had a skin condition in which his skin was blotching into white spots, so he had his skin bleached permanently so people wouldn't make fun of him.
and as for the nose, he, and many other siblings of his, got the surguries because thier father joe had made fun of how big thier noses were.

| I remember reading an article last week when he died. He said that hes never really felt like a black guy, Or knowing some reporters, something close to that. So my guess is he used the condition as an excuse to make himself white. I dont know, he was kinda crazy so anything is possible. | |
